Located at the start of the Maine Turnpike in Old York Village.

We have been buying and selling boats in Maine for 43 years.

If you are thinking of selling your vessel, we explain, analyze, and give you an honest assessment of today's yacht brokerage market. If you decide to sell your vessel, we visit her, photograph her, appraise her market value, and draft a very detailed listing describing a brief history of the vessel and all improvements and upgrades that have been done. If a recent survey is available, it hastens a prompt sale. We review a marketing plan with you, advising you of the most appropriate places to advertise in local, regional, or national publications and internet sites.

At Gray & Gray Yachts, we represent both power and sailboats but particularly specialize in high quality Downeast style Cruisers, Trawlers, Motoryachts, Pilothouse Trawlers, Tugs and offshore boats, as well as Grand Banks, Krogen, Defever, Eastbay, Marlow, Aleutian, Ocean Alexander, Albin, Duffy, Wilbur, Newman, Hinckley, Selene, Nordhavn, American Tug, Hood Whisperjet, Sabreline, Cape Dory, Back Cove, Dyer and Fortier. We also specialize in quality offshore-type sailboats of traditional design such as Shannon, Bristol, Pacific Seacraft, Hans Christian, Passport, Valiant, Cape Dory, Hinckley, Hallberg Rassy, Sabre, Swan, Little Harbor, Lyman Morse, Alden and Oyster.

Our 43 years of experience allow us to give you accurate, straight-forward representation of our listings. At our firm a high standard of integrity prevails. Since 1978, our yacht brokers have been members of the Yacht Brokers Association of America (YBAA) and are thoroughly schooled on YBAA Code of Ethics & Business Practices, and therefore are committed to practice the highest standard of ethics. Additionally, we act as your Buyer's Broker to find you the vessel you want, not one we happen to have in our inventory of listings. We strive to work hard to earn your trust and loyalty. Whether buying or selling, we will work on your behalf.

We offer national and international yacht brokerage services including assistance with financing, insurance, shipping and transportation, surveyors, mechanical and electronics surveys, Coast Guard Documentation, and boatyards who can best perform your refits and projects. We are also fully licensed and bonded in the state of Florida. So, if you are in search of a particular boat and want the security of dealing with an honest and seasoned broker, please give us a call.

We participate in boat shows and maintain relationships with boat manufacturers, captains, yacht designers, shipyards, marinas, and electronics firms to keep our knowledge current and up-to-date.

As a professional YBAA Broker, we also safeguard your deposit in our escrow account. Prior to a Closing, we run an abstract of title to ensure there are no liens or encumbrances. We also pay off any outstanding loans or mortgages and procure a Satisfaction of Mortgage. These are not easily and readily done if the sale is handled by a private Seller, not a professional broker.

We are here to serve you and we offer personalized service, and a friendly, knowledgeable staff. Please call or email us. Thank you for your interest.

36' Northern Bay HARDTOP CRUISER
1999 US$ 235,000

YANKEE SPIRIT is a 36'/38' Northern Bay Hardtop Cruiser custom finished in 1999 to the highest standards by J.S. Sharpe Boatworks in Brunswick, ME. This is one of the finest examples of a 36' Hardtop Downeast Cruiser this office has seen. She was designed and conceived by knowledgeable sailors who wanted to make the switch to a handsome power cruiser. After a long search visiting all the "Downeast" builders, they settled on Joe Sharpe who was known for his honest, quality work and ability to deliver exactly what the customer desires.

Both builder and original owners designed the ideal, two person layout with all solid cherry, raised paneled interior, teak and holly sole, roomy queen berth forward, a down galley which still allows the cook to feel a part of the salon action, and an extended wheelhouse which includes comfortable seating port and starboard for the helmsman and companion, a side door for easy side deck access, and an L-shaped settee to port which converts to a double and single settee to starboard.

The vessel is powered with a 430 hp Volvo TAMD 73P diesel with Twin Disc 2:1 reduction gear. She turns a 5 bladed prop and easily cruises at 14 knots with a maximum speed of 16-17 knots. Her engine hours are approximately 1066  hours as reported on engine hour meter. Her engine room is very well insulated with the most complete Sounddown package including Sounddown's coupler disc for no-vibration running. Extras include a Wesmar Bow thruster, a new awlgripped Dark Green hull in 2001 when the hull was extended 2' more to aft end of swim platform. She has a comfortable cockpit with a built-in transom seat, a transom door, cetoled exterior teak, a 1 1/4" S/S safety rail from cockpit to bow, 2 zone air conditioning and heat, 6 kw Northern Lights generator in soundshield, a 2500 watt Heart inverter, and much more. Her sliding doors and windows were built in England by Trend Marine and are the finest quality windows we have seen. Her owners have been caught in 6´- 8´ seas and 30-40 knot winds and reported that YANKEE SPIRIT provided a very comfortable ride despite the weather conditions. With the additional 2´ added to her hull, she tends to handle very well, run smooth and a little flatter. Please call today for a personal inspection on this unique, exceptional vessel.
