CARINTHIA III is one of three Nauset 36's, custom built with extended hardtop in 1990. These are extremely handsome and seakindly hulls with a single 375 hp Cat diesel offering 10-12 knots cruising speed. The cherry interior finish is exquisite, and her systems are well designed. This vessel has it all, with generator,  Espar heat (not presently used), dinghy and davit system, and a very attractive interior. She awaits her next adventure - Bahamas or The Loop? HULL AND DECK:

  • 1997 Awlgripped Stars and Stripes blue hull, white boottop, red bottom; off white house.
  • Builder: Nauset Marine, Orelans, MA finished; Dettling started interior in Maryland.
  • Fiberglass hull; deck and house sides with ¾” balsa core and fiberglass sandwich.
  • Double bottom construction.
  • Bilge is divided into 6 watertight compartments with automatic bilge pumps for each.
  • Forepeak is divided into three sections for chain, rode and shore power cord; 2 collision bulkheads.
  • Laid & caulked teak over plywood cockpit sole.
  • Teak swim platform with swim ladder.
  • Vinyl rubrails with S/S ovals are installed at sheer.
  • Full length spray rails at waterline for a stable, drier ride.
  • Aluminum framed salon windows – side windows all open and one window aft opens with screens.
  • Three S/S Hood forward deck hatches in cabin top.
  • S/S bow rail continues aft to cockpit with stanchions and lifelines and double rails on flybridge.

Fuel: 300 gallons in three aluminum tanks.

Water: 160 gallons in two S/S tanks.

Holding: 30 gallons in fiberglass tank below galley steps, with deck plate or 12V macerator.

 

ENGINE & MECHANICAL:

  • Single Caterpillar 3208 TA V8, 375 hp diesel, FWC, with 2572 hours as seen on the meter winter 2023, 1000 hour service completed.
  • Twin Disc 1.5:1 transmission.
  • Dual Racor fuel filters with vacuum gauges.
  • Oil changing system.
  • 3 bladed bronze 23 RH 17 prop; prop is protected by skeg.
  • Trim tabs.
  • Seastar hydraulic steering at dual helms, with Edson.
  • 1 ½” S/S shaft; Morse throttle controls.
  • Full engine gauges at helm.
  • Tank Tender gauges for fuel and water at helm – for all 6 tanks.
  • Espar diesel heat (owner hasn’t used – SOLD AS IS) with outlets in head and deckhouse.
  • Extra 2” layer of Sounddown insulation.
  • Plumbed for fresh water flush and winterization system for engine and generator and head system.
  • Cruising speed: 10 knots @ 1800-1900 RPM @ 5-6 gph.
  • Maximum speed: 14 knots @ 2400 RPM; idles @ 2800 RPM.

 

ELECTRICAL:

  • 110V AC (50 amp) or 12V DC electrical system with circuit breaker panels.
  • 2020 6-6V lead acid batteries in series.
  • Westerbeke 5kw diesel generator in separate compartment, rebuilt in 1997, with Racor filter (approximately 544 hours).
  • One generator battery and two engine start batteries; all batteries parallel with switches.
  • Engine start batteries charged by 50 amp alternator or battery charger.
  • 110V battery charger with 80 amp back-up charger with Heart inverter, 2500 watt.
  • 6 gallon Atlantic hot water heater.

 

ACCOMMODATIONS:

  • Sleeps four in a very attractive Herreshoff-style interior with white bulkhead and varnished trim.
  • Forward stateroom has 6’9” vee berths; Dinette converts to double berth 6’6” long x 57” wide.
  • Starting forward, Owner’s stateroom is spacious with lots of storage in lockers and under vee berths, outboard over the vee berths, and in large hanging lockers aft.
  • Headroom is 6’4”.
  • Ventilation is through opening hatch and side portlights.
  • Next aft to starboard is an enclosed head with 12V Galley Maid head, stall shower and ceramic tile floors, large mirror, S/S sink, and very good storage.
  • Headroom in head is 6’1” and 6’2” in shower.
  • Opposite the head is the U-shaped galley with double S/S sinks, Panasonic microwave oven.
  • Galley Maid three burner electric cook top, and lots of storage in lockers and shelves.
  • Galley is open to the salon with a pass over counter separating galley from salon.
  • Up four steps to the salon with steering and nav station to starboard with full instrumentation and the electrical distribution panels.
  • Aft of the helm are two Rattan arm chairs separated by table/cupboard.
  • To port in the salon is an L-shaped settee with fold-out high-low table.
  • Sounddown underlayment and sea green carpet are on the salon sole.
  • Four side windows in house sides open.
  • There is a starboard sliding side door in cockpit to access large covered teak cockpit with four storage compartments.
  • S/S ladder leads to flybridge through closing companionway.
