1966 Grand Banks 36 Classic (Hull # 39)

HULL & DECK:

• Off white hull and superstructure, red sheer stripe, green bottom.
• Builder: American Marine LTD, Robert Newton & Sons, Hong Kong.
• 5/4” Carvel planked Philippine Mahogany over sawn oak frames, fastened with #16, 2 3/4” bronze screws on 12” centers, and bronze through bolts.
• Framing includes oak longitudinals with 5/4” 3” transverse frames.
• Decks are laid caulked teak over marine grade plywood.
• Superstructure is fiberglass over marine grade plywood and painted.
• Bronze deck hardware; bronze bow rail.
• Varnished teak exterior trim in First Class condition.
• 2009 - 2013 bottom refastened with new 16 x 2 ¾” screws, set in epoxy.
• Bowsprit, bow rail stanchions, Sampson post have been all rebuilt.
• Flybridge sole has been rebuilt with two layers of 3/8” Meranti plywood with fiberglass cloth and resin over.
• The cabin house has been modified to include a portside door.
• Other modifications include recessed safety steps to the flybridge with safety rails.

Fuel: 2012 2 new poly fuel tanks (200 gallons total),  1 aluminum day tank (72 gallons); 1 located in engine room and 2 in aft lazarette; 2 fuel tanks have electric gauges with 1 site gauge.

Water: 2012 160 gallon total in 2 plastic tanks (port and starboard in aft cabin).

Holding: new 2020 composting head; no holding necessary.

• 1998 (estimated) American Marine 136 hp diesel, 6 cylinder, FWC, with 2000 hours as related by owner; hour meter changed when new engine installed.

• An attractive stained glass window is at aft end of settee.
• To port is a long side galley, of varnished teak with superb cabinetry and drawers.
• The overhead is varnished fir, insulated under, with numerous dome lights.
• There is also a portside door at aft end of galley, and further aft is a solid fuel, wood burning “Sardine” stove. There is also Webasto diesel furnance and Webasto 110V heater and air conditioning.

• Further aft, one steps down to the aft owners stateroom, with a large queen berth offset to starboard, hanging locker, ensuite Nature's Head.

COMMENTS: This is probably the best wooden Grand Banks 36 this office has seen. Impeccably maintained by her owner, only her sixth owner in 55 years, she belies her years. Present owner has made so many improvements including refastening the bottom, rebuilding the bowsprit and rails, installing all new electrical system and new tanks, rebuilt the generator, new heating and air conditioning system, new bow thruster, new Garmin electronics, new refrigerator-freezer, new wood stove, new Nature's Head, etc. The list goes on and on. A new American Marine diesel was installed in 1998, and has only 2,000 hours. She is an exceptional vessel offered at an exceptional price.

OWNER’S COMMENTS: ENDURANCE has been lovingly restored and improved by her current owners for the past 16 years. During winters in New England, Endurance is stored inside at Great Bay Marina in New Hampshire. When she is occupied in winters in North Carolina, she has three forms of heat, a diesel furnace, a wood stove, and an air conditioner heat pump. She has cruised the East coasts of Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts as well as made the long journey from New Hampshire to North Carolina and back several times. Her present owners have immensely enjoyed their cruising times aboard Endurance and have found her to be strong and sturdy and a very cozy and comfortable yacht. In her youth, ENDURANCE was the cover girl for a 1968 issue of Motor Boating Magazine.
