HULL AND DECK:

• Hull has raked stem, round chines, full keel with skeg and full transom.
• Gray hull with white bulwarks, red boottop, and red bottom.
• Present owner installed new forefoot, new 17’ mahogany garboard strake on both sides of keel, 3 new cedar planks, port and starboard, from forefoot and garboard.
• Varnished mahogany transom with three chrome plated boarding steps.
• Cedar hull, carvel planking on frame construction, with white oak frames.
• Monel nails in topsides; recent bronze fastenings below waterline.
• Oak spray rails forward; oak quarter rails aft; 18" lifting strakes at waterline.
• Fiberglass over plywood decks with painted non-skid.
• White raised bulwarks capped with varnished mahogany.
• Cabin trunk Bomar hatch forward.

COMMENTS: Boating Enthusiasts will recognize ROAR as one of the iconic 32' Beals Island Lobster-style yachts built and designed by Clinton Beal. His lobster vessels have sweeping sheerlines, a fine entry forward and efficient "below waterline" design. Beals Island in the Jonesport area of Maine is where most early lobster boats were designed, and where lobster boat racing began. Beal is the last of the Beals Island wooden lobster builders having built two torpedo-stern models, and numerous traditional stern lobster vessels. ROAR was rebuilt in 1985 by Royal River Boatyard with new transom, ribs, deck and pilothouse and cabin trunk. At that time, she was owned by the boatyard owner. In approximately 2016, the present owner purchased her and installed the new planks as described in hull construction. He also installed a new GM 454 gas inboard, FWC. He has enjoyed using her for charter parties in the Tenant’s Harbor, ME area. He has thoroughly enjoyed running this "Classic" Downeast lobster vessel, delighting in day trips and picnic cruises.
