SADIE was built in 1960 by the renowned builder,
Ronald Rich of Southwest Harbor, ME. Mr. Rich was said to have built
around 80 wooden boats, half for pleasure and half as working lobster
boats. Remarkably, since 1960, SADIE has had only
four owners, all of whom have maintained her carefully and
conscientiously. Her present owners purchased her in 2004 from a
well-regarded Maine boatbuilder, John Flanzer of Maine Traditional
Boats, Inc., who had used the boat for his personal use and did an
extensive rebuild as outlined above. Then her current owners returned
to John Flanzer in 2012 for more improvements. SADIE
is a traditional “built-down” mahogany lobster-style cruiser which
received a new Yanmar 225 hp diesel in 1996. She cruises easily at
10-15 knots. A new Garmin HD Radar & GPS have been recently
installed, and her interior cushions and a new Jabsco head have been
installed. The owners have enjoyed cruising the New England coast from
Mt. Desert Island to Shelter Island, and have found
SADIE to be a very comfortable cruiser with a soft
ride, great maneuverability and is highly economical.
SADIE is a classy, traditional wooden Downeast
Cruiser which has had all necessary projects completed, so in Spring
2019, she will be ready for launching and ready for new adventures. A
2016 Paul Haley survey is available upon request. Thank you for your interest.
