COASTER II, ( this is the original name), is a clipper-bowed, two-masted gaff-rigged topsail schooner designed and originally owned by master designer Murray Peterson. She was built in 1933 at the Goudy & Stephens boatyard at East Boothbay, Maine. COASTER II was the second in a series of three schooners Peterson designed to replicate the craftsmanship and appearance of late 19th century coasting schooners. She was built as a yacht and is registered as a National Historic vessel. COASTER II has been through a significant restoration and retains outstanding integrity to her original design and construction. She has sailed around Cape Horn and is believed to have won the Trans-Pac race in the late '40's or '50's. She was the only American flag vessel to place in her class in the 2002 Pacific Tall Ship Challenge. In 2003, she raced in the American Schooner Cup race in San Diego. It is rare that a vessel of this pedigree comes available at a very reasonable value. COASTER II shows very well which is a testament to her knowledgeable, caring ownership. The present owner is a boatbuilder who has built many traditional small boats. He has upgraded COASTER II with new sails, new electrical system, new interior rebuild, and much new hull work as described above. Please call us to view this traditional schooner. This is a superb opportunity. Thank you for your interest.
